I made this piece with Blue Pine, Redwood, and Box Elder woods. The Blue Pine was salvaged firewood, and the pale streaks through the blue grain reminded me a bit of a comet. The lid rests on the tails of the handle, teetering when touched even gently--this design was intentional. I wanted to show that wood, like life, is always in flux, and it is perhaps better to embrace the instability. Handmade in my local small workshop in Sacramento, California!
